This is poison for the upholstery

What is the biggest danger for seat covers, regardless of whether they are made of leather or fabric?
First and foremost, the rivets on the jeans are certainly a major problem, as they rub against the covers every time you get in and out of the car, until they eventually show cracks. This damage is particularly noticeable on the outside of the lower backrest.
Another danger for the upholstery is supporting yourself with just one knee to straighten or fetch something from the rear seat or front passenger seat. The knee exerts a very specific, small point of pressure on the seat surface and thus strains all the seams many times more than the large, evenly distributed pressure from the buttocks. The resulting high tension causes older seams in particular to tear. Seams that would have withstood even pressure for a long time can tear very quickly with just a knee pressure of 50 or 60 kilos on a few square centimetres.
It is therefore advisable in future to avoid this long-established method of retrieving the Zwischengas annual magazine or other items from the rear seat.
