To the moon and back ... in the Opel Corsa

"Where are you? I don't know, but I can see the moon!"
Yes, there are all sorts of bizarre things to marvel at in the basement of the Opel factory museum. But the most striking is certainly the Opel Corsa "Moon". After the DeLorean in "Back to the future", this Corsa could well have been used in the 1981 film "Louis and his alien cabbages". Louis de Funès would certainly have driven the car into the hearts of the fans, or probably flown it.
The Moon Corsa was a pure design study by Opel and was based on the Corsa B. The car was presented in 1997, 28 years after the moon landing, on the Canary Islands as part of a Corsa facelift. The aim was to highlight the technical progress made in the local volcanic landscape to the press. The Corsa was not only given thick lunar tires made of steel mesh, but also solar cells and satellite dishes. But the wheels are by far the car's biggest eye-catcher. Unfortunately, there is a lack of innovation in the interior, where everything remains the same.
The sales slogan could have been: Man needs three things to live: The sun for the day, the moon for the night and the Opel forever!
