The special pickup

In 1967, this pickup stood in the "Detroit Autorama" exhibition and made visitors dream. It was called the Dodge Deora, the name derived from the Spanish word for gold. However, the car was not built by Chrysler/Dodge itself, but by the Alexander brothers. The designer was Harry Bentley Bradley, who drew the lines on paper as early as 1964. A Dodge A100 pickup was used as the starting point for the conversion.
However, extensive work was necessary before the finished show car was ready.
For example, the engine was moved back around half a meter. The doors disappeared and the driver and front passenger had to get in through the windshield (from Ford).
At around five meters long but just over one meter high, the gold-colored result looked truly impressive. No wonder the car won nine prizes at the 1967 Detroit Autorama and was subsequently shown around by Chrysler for over two years. It was then sold and only resurrected many years later. In 2009, the car changed hands at an auction, at that time already worth over USD 300,000.
If you wanted to spend less, you could also buy a small version from Hot Wheels ...
