With a clear view of the traffic signal

In the early 1960s, there were probably far fewer traffic signals than today. Nevertheless, it was obviously important for car manufacturers at the time to have a good view of these traffic regulators. At the launch of the Taunus 17M, known as the "bathtub", Ford handed out a drawing showing how practical the curved windshield was for being able to see traffic lights without straining your neck, even if you were at the front of the traffic queue.
However, the explanations about the good visibility were not limited to this. Another impressive picture showed the excellent all-round visibility, appropriately explained by a lady with a short hairstyle.
BMW also played the same tune when marketing the BMW 600 . In the sales brochurefor the BMW 600 from 1958, there was an easy-to-understand drawing that not only explained how well you could see light signals, but also that you could see all the way to the ground just 2.9 meters in front of the vehicle. Nowadays, this is often four or five meters, if that's enough.
And in modern times, people also like to opt for SUVs because of the better view, although 50 years ago there were much more practical and material-friendly solutions ...
