Summary
Between November 1975 and January 1986, 2.7 million vehicles of the 123 model series left the Mercedes Benz production facilities - no model series has ever been more successful. The entry-level model was the Mercedes Benz 200, which initially developed 94 and later 109 hp with a displacement of two liters and four cylinders. In most cases, it was poorly equipped, as comfort extras were expensive. But it was certainly durable. This report portrays the "small" Mercedes Benz 200 and tells the story of the W 123 series, supplemented with many current and historical photographs.

What's more, it's not impossible to find yourself sitting in a 200 D from this series by chance when getting into a cab. Some of these robust and durable classics are still in use today. However, it was not at all clear at the beginning that the 123 model series would become Mercedes' most successful design to date.
