Too many cars? From the first day of Retro Classics in Stuttgart
03/18/2016
Anyone wandering through the nine halls of the over 120,000 square meter Retro Classics classic car trade fair in Stuttgart yesterday was literally overwhelmed by what was on offer. Although there shouldn't actually be a lack of space, the dealers in particular had crammed their stands full of cars, the likes of which you normally only see in the back yards of used car dealers in conurbations. You could barely get a good look at the individual cars. And the carpet requirement introduced in 2014 - a textile covering is now mandatory under every stand - seems unnecessary in hindsight, as you could hardly see the carpet around the densely parked cars.
But there was one exception. The stand of "Pur Sang" - a replica manufacturer from Argentina - had plenty of space and no cars on the stand. What had happened? We can only guess, but presumably the gentlemen simply arrived too late and were no longer allowed to drive the cars into the hall. In any case, there was a Bugatti and an Alfa Romeo outside in the parking lot and we wouldn't be surprised if you could see one or the other again today, Friday, at the Pur-Sang stand.
We will publish a comprehensive report on the fair in the next few days.
