Forgotten cars from TV series - the Ford Thunderbird from Vegas
It's many a car fan's dream. Dan Tanna (alias Robert Urich) drove his Ford Thunderbird straight into his living room, which was located in a converted warehouse at the Desert Inn Hotel in Las Vegas. The city also gave the TV series, which was broadcast in the USA from 1978 to 1981 and aired on ZDF from 1980, its name: "Vegas". In the USA, the original seasons were called "Vega$", although there were later remakes.
Dan Tanna was a detective who solved difficult cases with the help of his entourage and let it smoke. At the beginning of the series, his yellow Chevrolet Corvette C2 was destroyed, which was then replaced by a red Thunderbird built in 1957. In fact, there were two Thunderbirds, a nice one for the harmless shots, a stunt car with a Dodge Interceptor engine and a device that allowed the rear wheels to be locked quickly for action shots, as insiders report.
Incidentally, the cars were not actually sprayed in the correct "Candy Apple Red", but in the red of the 1970s Corvettes, as this color came across better according to TV producer Aaron Spelling.
Incidentally, the series and the car were so popular that the toy manufacturer Corgi Toys sold a corresponding model car.
