Attentive trailer fans will already have noticed that Jay Gatsby no longer drives a Rolls-Royce Phantom I in the remake of the film "The Great Gatsby", but a Duesenberg Model J (above is a picture of a similar model in Pebble Beach).
Baz Luhrmann's film will be released in (American) cinemas this summer and not only the actors have been renewed, but also the music. And also the cars, where they obviously wanted to fall back on American classics, although one could argue that the Duesenberg was certainly less aristocratic than the RR and more "nouveau riche" in the twenties, as the Wall Street Journal casually remarked.
