Globalization took a break in Bern
04/21/2013
Was it due to the recent onset of winter? In any case, the bidders at yesterday's well-organized auction in Wangen an der Aare were reluctant to go out on a limb.
A Velorex 16/350 tricycle, an original miniature vehicle from the former Czechoslovakia, may serve as an example. The highest bidder was willing to pay just 2,500 francs; in February 2013, a similar vehicle was knocked down for USD 12,650 at RM Auction during the Bruce Weiner Museum auction .
And we are talking about increasingly globalized prices? In Wangen an der Aare, at any rate, globalization took a break, as no world market prices were offered for other vehicles either, including a Simca 6, a Lea Francis Woody or an Alvis TB 14. Or was it the snow that had upset the stomachs of potential buyers?
You can take a look at the offers and estimated prices in the Zwischengas news archive.
