Those were the days when drivers were not slowed down by regulations and prohibition signs, but by appeals to common sense. The sign was photographed near Darmstadt in 1962.
Now, 51 years later, it is no longer common sense that counts, but a precisely set cruise control system, speed signs projected onto the windshield and near-zero tolerance for violations with ever tighter controls. And cars will probably soon be driving autonomously and correctly anyway. The only troublemakers will then be us classic car owners ...
