And he disappeared as quickly as he had arrived

Yes, there it was, the BMW 3000 V8 Coupé with chassis number V-1471, which was exhibited at the IAA 1967 in Frankfurt according to explanations on site. It was on display at a dealership stand, but only on Thursday, the first day of Techno Classica 2013. By Friday, it was already gone, presumably already removed by the buyer, depriving many visitors of the pleasure of admiring the elegant coupé one-off.
Pietro Frua had built it for the Frankfurt Motor Show, the technical basis was the former Glas V8 2600/3000 and the car was also shown in Paris the following year after the IAA. Later, the one-off is said to have been sold to a large landowner in Andalusia, who kept the car until he died and then bequeathed it to a loyal employee. The car changed hands again in 2000 and has never been driven since. Instead of the metallic color, it is now white; according to the Frua website , it is also said to have been red at one point.
"A unique opportunity" was written on the sign in the car, but by then it was already over. Because it also said "* Sold *" in large felt-tip pen. And the next morning, the expensive sales area was empty.
It should also be mentioned that there were several similar vehicles from Frua, equipped with four and six-cylinder engines, and that the Monteverdi 2000 GTI looked similar to the car shown here.
