Tradition is recycled and scrubbed away at the Geneva Motor Show
03/10/2013
In the world of modern automobiles, environmental requirements and new consumer tastes, old cars and the tradition of big brands seem to be losing weight. At least that is the impression one gets at the Geneva Motor Show (we have already reported on this in an earlier article ).
The good old tradition is increasingly being "scrubbed away". There are hardly any ancestors of today's automobiles to be seen at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It is sad that neither Chevrolet properly honored the beginnings of the Corvette nor Porsche the 50-year history of the 911.
The beginnings and history are almost forgotten because of the modern superlatives, although it would be a feast for the eyes of all visitors to see the development. If only Chevrolet had shown the courage to line up all the different shapes of the Corvette, they would certainly have been a crowd puller.
Do all the reflections of the ancestors and forefathers really have to be wiped away (picture above) or, even worse, do these predecessors of today's cars have to wait in a dark corner to be recycled?
