Men with vision
12/25/2012
The history of the automobile is closely intertwined with men who unwaveringly pursued their visions to reach new horizons. These men, whether their names were Claudio Zampolli (Cizeta V16T) or Antonio Lago (Talbot-Lago), did not think in terms of "key performance indicators" or "Excel spreadsheets". They had gasoline in their blood and wanted to set milestones. Enzo Ferrari was also one of these men with vision, as were certainly most of the founders of the early automobile brands.
However, the more the car became a business and a marketing product, the less visionaries and idealists were in demand. Cool calculators and number-oriented managers are in demand today, it seems.
Unfortunately, this is also the case in the media industry. Often it is not editors who think long-term and are reader-oriented who decide on the content and format of magazines and online platforms, but financial controllers.
Well, things are definitely different at Zwischengas. We photograph and document for the joy and interest of it. If we were a little more talented, we would perhaps build cars. But this way, we at least describe and "experience" those that we can learn something from or dream about.
