Classic car racing in the home country of Singha beer
12/06/2012
At first glance, the scene in the picture, which was kindly sent to us by a reader from afar, looks like a touring car race on the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit or another European race track. Cars of different vintages are racing against each other, a BMW M3 seems to be rolling up the field, the two Alfa cars are fighting for positions, the Porsche is taking a wait-and-see attitude, perhaps. That's how it goes at touring car races in Europe.
But wait, some of the drivers are sitting on the right-hand side of their touring cars. And the Singha billboard also points out that we are not in Europe, but in Thailand, more precisely on the Bira race track in Pattaya.
And the picture also reminds us that it is now 20, 30 and more degrees Celsius in those latitudes, i.e. the best conditions for "hot" racing, while we have to leave our cars in the garage waiting for spring.
