There are many good cars, many good names, but only one Porsche
"How do you explain this unique fascination that emanates from the Porsche name? If you ask Porsche drivers why they keep choosing this car and no other - and there are many who have been switching to the latest model again and again for years - they will tell you a wealth of positive features.
The functional beauty of the design, not fashionable, but timelessly beautiful and correct. The harmony of well thought-out, well-coordinated technical equipment down to the smallest detail and the perfect fittings. The precise, well-placed steering, the extremely stable, reliable brakes and the lightning-fast synchronized gearbox with its extremely short shift times and gearshift travel, which is so good that it is built under license into the fastest sports and racing cars in the world.
The impeccable workmanship and the solid comfort deserve to be mentioned. And last but not least, the already proverbial good road holding and the inspiring temperament of the powerful engine win the Porsche more and more friends. Whether on long journeys or in the hustle and bustle of the city, it is agile, reacts with lightning speed, is easy to control and is economical and economical to maintain.
The sum of all these characteristics is what makes this car so special: its reliability and safety, its strength and agility, its harmony - its uniqueness.
'There are many good cars, many good names, but only one Porsche', a Porsche friend, one of the 40,000 Porsche drivers, told us, and that speaks for itself."
What a sermon! Written in 1961, printed in the sales brochure for the Porsche 356 for 1962, the elegant two-color brochure covered the entire range from the "normal" 356 to the "Carrerai GT", leaving it at black and white, sober illustrations, dispensing with color photos and luridly painted illustrations and concentrating largely on facts and technical data.
But they didn't forget to mention that a towing hook at the front was just as much part of the standard equipment as a can of spray paint!
As always, the 1962 sales brochure can of course be found in the Zwischengas archive.
