The story of a BMW 502
12/21/2012
The proud BMW 502, built in 1962, was once purchased as an official car for Hans-Jochen Vogel. Vogel was Lord Mayor of Munich from 1960 to 1972. When the car was released from its duties with full honors, it was taken over by a teacher who enjoyed the classic car for many years and gave it the necessary maintenance.
However, like many a classic car, the ravages of time gnawed at the historic vehicle and, as a complete restoration would have exceeded the available funds, the car was sold, not to just any collector, but to the German Museum in Munich, where the car can now be admired by thousands in the transport center, as it stands imposingly right at the entrance. It was called the Baroque Angel because of its pompous forms and in white it can only be a friendly angel.
