Three-quarter view - Mercedes-Benz C 111 in (historical) test
Summary
It seems a bit like a story from another world; a world in which the Mercedes-Benz C 111 would have gone into series production. Some thought that it would be the new warhorse for Mercedes, with which they would make a spectacular entry into the international racing scene to celebrate a triumphant return. Our firm opinion, however, is that the C 111 in its current state is not a true, modern racing sports car. The car is too heavy and too bulky. It would not even stand a chance against the Ford GT 40, whose design is now outdated. Although it is a very successful design, it is also likely to have a difficult time in the market for exclusive cars, where it is up against illustrious exotics such as the Ghibli, Miura, Mangusta and others.
