Production of the BMW 503 only to order

The BMW 503 coupé/convertible was (and still is) somewhat overshadowed by its faster brother, the BMW 507. It was only built to order and between 1956 and 1959 only 412 units left the production halls, i.e. just under 140 per year. A price for which you could also build a nice detached house stood in the way of high demand.
As with the 507, the design was by Albrecht Graf von Goertz, and the engine was again a V8 with a displacement of 3.2 liters, which delivered 140 hp in the 503.
