For many years it was a tradition at Rolls-Royce not to publish performance data. If you asked for horsepower or torque figures, you were given a "sufficient" or "adequate". This was also the case when the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow saloon was announced.
For the Silver Shadow Drophead Coupé and later the Corniche Convertible, the engine from the saloon was given a power boost using the usual tuning methods of the time - different valve timing, a lower-resistance exhaust manifold and air filter. As the company did not want to communicate this increased performance, the result was "enough plus ten percent".
We will soon be publishing a detailed and richly illustrated report on the Bentley / Rolls Royce Corniche.
