Exciting shapes from the East

Of course we are talking about cars and their design. The Tatra 87 (pictured below) was a comparatively revolutionary semi-self-supporting design that was built from 1937 to 1950. The Cd value of the body was only 0.36, which, with an air-cooled V8 rear engine, resulted in a top speed of 150 to 160 km/h.
Closely related to the Tatra 87 was the Tatraplan (or T600, pictured above), which was built from 1948 and, unlike the Tatra 87, had an air-cooled four-cylinder engine with a displacement of two liters. Thanks to the ingenious aerodynamics, the actually meagre 52 hp enabled a top speed of over 140 km/h, which could be enjoyed by six people at the same time.
We will be devoting several articles to the Tatra brand and its sensational vehicles in the coming months.
