The Lincoln Continental 1961 from the perspective of the sales promoters
03/18/2011
When Ford introduced the new Lincoln Continental in 1961, it was a radical departure from its predecessor.
The design by Elwood Engel in particular was a huge step forward. The new car was considerably more "compact" than its predecessor, despite still having a considerable exterior length of 5.4 meters and a width of almost 2 meters. The four doors opening in opposite directions on the saloon and (!) the convertible were particularly unusual.
The reason for these thoughts, however, is not the design features of the vehicle, whose pictures went around the world in connection with J.F. Kennedy's death, among other things, but the sales brochure from 1964. Twenty pages long, this brochure not only shows the Lincoln in both versions and different environments, it also portrays the people who were assigned to the Continental as drivers or passengers (inside). And it shows in part the development of the interior. The three pictures shown here give a first impression - smiles allowed!
We will write a report on the Lincoln Continental 1961-1969 at a later date and then publish the entire brochure.
