Toyota Sports 800 - an unknown small Japanese sports car
If you ask people about Toyota sports cars, they will probably know the Celica and perhaps the 2000 GT, which James Bond was allowed to enjoy as a convertible in the movie "You only live twice". However, very few people are familiar with the Toyota Sports 800 .
Between 1965 and 1969, Toyota built around 3,100 vehicles, mainly for the domestic market.
With an unladen weight of 580 kg and a length of 3.58 meters, the car was extremely compact. The 790 cc air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 45 hp was sufficient to accelerate the small sports car to around 155 km/h.
An interesting feature was the removable roof, which made this car one of the first "Targa".
We plan to devote a more detailed report to this car soon.
