Sebastian Vettel and the old cars
03/22/2011
Next Sunday, the new Formula 1 season in Australia will start late for the second time in its 61-year history! As is well known, the planned season opener in Bahrain had to be canceled due to unrest.
The German Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull is once again the big favorite for the 2011 world championship.
Hardly any of today's Formula 1 drivers are "historians"! Many are only interested in the "today and now". They hardly know any Fangio, Moss or Clark. Sebastian Vettel is completely different. He loves old cars, just as much as we Zwischengas drivers do. He often takes the time to watch the demonstration laps of the historic racing cars during a GP.
At last year's Ennstal Klassik, he was allowed to drive the Porsche 804 F1 from 1962. His enthusiasm was enormous and he could hardly imagine how it was possible to race such cars back then!
He was very impressed by the sound of the air-cooled eight-cylinder engine and only missed his earplugs!
Zwischengas wishes the world champion every successfor the coming season!
