Automobiles from the Buchmann bakery

For a long time, the automobile was reserved for wealthy people or people who had important transportation tasks to perform. It was not until the 1960s that mass mobilization really began, leading to one vehicle for every two inhabitants of a country.
The Buchmann bakery in Zurich, however, used motorized vehicles early on to fulfill its mission. These were mostly purpose-built commercial vehicles, but always with attractive lettering.
On the occasion of an anniversary, the bakery published a few of the original photos on postcards and documented the company's pride in its own vehicles in wonderful black and white photos. A feast for the eyes!
The Buchmann bakery is known for its famous "Buchmann-Bürli", crispy pastries that go perfectly with sausages or other grilled food. Of course, these have to be delivered fresh and crispy, which was probably one reason for using fast means of transportation early on.
