Ch. Nigg from Geneva was a well-known and successful driver in the pre-war period; for example, he won the touring car category up to 2000 cc in an Ansaldo at Klausen in 1925.
The photo here shows him on the Jaun Pass at the 1912 Coupe de Gruyères. What makes this picture particularly special is the visible acrobatic performance of the (three!) passengers - note the co-pilot with his head under the steering wheel. Such "techniques" were widespread at the time. By shifting weight, higher cornering speeds could be achieved, which only became common practice for motorcycles with sidecars in the 1920s.
