Forgotten beauties - Vauxhall SRV from 1971
03/16/2011
At the 1971 Geneva Motor Show , Vauxhall presented this "Idea Car" on the stand of the international motor show.
The extreme wedge shape is truly impressive. But it wasn't just the shape that was "innovative"; the door concept, in which the rear door could only be opened when the front door was open, similar to a double door cabinet, or the dashboards built into the doors and only swiveling in front of the driver when the door was closed - instead of displays behind the steering wheel - give an idea that series production was not the primary consideration at the time.
Even today, the shape still looks futuristic and attractive, hopefully the SRV could be saved in some museum!
