When racing drivers still made it to the title!
04/03/2018
On March 13, 1967, four top-class Swiss racing drivers were pictured on the cover of the Swiss magazine, which at the time was available for just a single franc, on their "trip to the motor show". Charles Vögele, Jo Siffert, Herbert Müller and Silvio Moser forced the four of them into the two seats of an Alfa Spider.
I don't think any racing driver made it onto the cover alive after this picture. Siffert was once again immortalized at the very front after his tragic death in an accident. I can't remember Clay Regazzoni getting the title either after his racing accident or after his later fatal accident. Marc Surer didn't make it as European F2 champion either, nor did Marcel Fässler with three historic Le Mans victories. Then there are Neel Jani and Sebastien Buemi, both of whom have also won more, as have various ski racers who have also often graced the SI title. Unfortunately, motorsport in Switzerland is and remains a sport without lauded heroes.
This was quite different with the titles that we show page by page in the magazine archive .
