Racing traffic circle
04/19/2018
Usually, works of art on the islands in the traffic circle only prevent you from seeing through them so that you can drive through faster and more safely. But in the small German town of Adenau, located directly on the Nordschleife, I was quite astonished when Manfred von Brauchitsch, who was thought to be dead, threatened to take my right of way in his legendary Mercedes-Benz W25.
With this traffic circle design, Adenau is showing a very clear "yes to motorsport" and that makes the hearts of all motorsport fans happy, who will certainly feel right at home at this reception.
The W25 was built under the direction of chief designer Hans Nibel and was used in the 750 kg formula from 1934 to 1936. The initially still white Silver Arrow celebrated its premiere on June 3, 1934 at the Eifel race on the Nürburgring with a victory. Manfred von Brauchitsch won the race over 342.15 kilometers in 2:47:36.4 hours with a lead of 1:20 minutes over Hans Stuck in the Auto Union Type A.
The car on the traffic circle appears to match the original in terms of its dimensions and looks incredibly real at first glance. Even the instrument panel and steering wheel show the attention to detail.
Completely surprised by the unexpected road user, I naturally gave him the right of way and sent Manfred a friendly greeting in return.
