What exactly is "triple black"?
04/17/2018
Recently, a new term has been doing the rounds, especially at classic car auctions: Triple Black. This description seems to have become almost inflationary, with cars in triple black being offered almost everywhere.
In most cases, it is used to describe the color scheme of a car, three times black. Firstly, this refers to the exterior paintwork, which is understandable. The other two blacks refer to the interior, which in more modern cars could be chosen in two different colors. In the Triple Black car, everything is black, for example both the seats and the dashboard (or the seat inserts). Usually, there is no other color on the triple black car.
The fact that this is so prominent - after all, a completely black car is not that new - is due to the preferences of today's classic car and, above all, classic car buyers, for whom black is very popular. And so a triple black car is particularly popular, like the Porsche 930 from 1980in these pictures, which Silverstone Auctions will be putting under the hammer in "Triple Black" on May 19, 2018.
