Beware of carbon monoxide poisoning
04/04/2018
The weather is slowly but surely getting better again, the rest of the gritting salt is evaporating with every single rain shower. The temperatures are rising and the time is slowly getting ripe for a weekend or a vacation in a camper van and, as you can clearly see in the picture, a single bus parking space nowadays also offers perfect space for two such caravans.
You don't always have to travel to neighboring countries, because the home countries also have their charms and still offer a lot of undiscovered things for young and old. Whether in a Beetle or a Bulli, a trip together with overnight accommodation is always great fun, but be careful: If it cools down more than expected at night and it gets too cold for a "tüüfä gsundä Schlaaaf" (deep healthy sleep), you should never take warm or even hot coal from the fireplace into the car. If the windows are closed, this can very quickly lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. This is imperceptible as it is completely odorless. You fall asleep and suffocate without feeling a thing. Many readers will probably smile now and think that everyone knows this. But that's not the case, because just such an accident occurred at the end of January in central Switzerland, in which a 38-year-old car mechanic, who was also intensively involved with classic cars, died in a motorhome with his 34-year-old girlfriend.
This photo was taken by chance last summer in Küssnacht am Rigi.
