Rather shorter daily stages at rallies (question of the week)
04/16/2018
Classic car rallies are popular; there is hardly a weekend in the warmer seasons without one, two or even half a dozen such events taking place. They differ in terms of landscape and route, but also in terms of the length of the daily stages. While some take it easy on the participants with relatively short distances to cover, others challenge the teams of riders with long or even very long stages.
In a " question of the week" , we therefore asked Zwischengas readers what they thought the maximum length of a daily stage should be.
The verdict was clear: the majority do not appreciate excessively long rides in one day. 59 percent of the 308 respondents consider 200 km per day to be the maximum, because after all, you also want to enjoy the landscape, the area or the typically interesting culinary offerings.
A further 26 percent see the limit at a maximum of 400 km, which can already mean 7 to 9 hours of driving time.
Only one percent of respondents were in favor of a maximum distance of 600 km, while six percent thought it could be 700 km or more, as they mainly want to drive and certainly see this as a sporting challenge.
At least six percent did not respond to any of the given answers; one can assume that even 200 km is too much for them and perhaps 100 km would do. This certainly applies to drivers of very old cars, for example, who need several hours to drive the 90 kilometers from London to Brighton.
Of course, the results of the survey are also available in graphic form:
We have already asked a new question of the week. This time, we want to know whether Zwischengas readers can imagine bidding on cars online and buying classic cars at internet auctions.
And, of course, you can continue to look up the results of all previous questions of the week in the dedicated topic channel.
