Numbers games in the history of the car
12/03/2010
For many, numbers are simply numbers, but for others, numbers evoke memories and even emotions."911" is one such number, and for car enthusiasts it needs no further explanation. But many car connoisseurs will also immediately associate"246" with the little cars from Maranello.
And so there are many other numbers that connoisseurs can immediately assign to specific vehicle brands and types. All three-digit numbers with a "0" in between were leased from Peugeot, for example. Australians will be particularly familiar with the number"179" in connection with Holden engines. Porsche has always managed to create myths out of numbers; in addition to the magical number "911", this also applies to"356","904","906", but especially to"917" - the symbol of extreme racing technology at the end of the 1960s. The list could go on and on and it would certainly be interesting to see what people think of when they hear the number"300" (Mercedes, right?) or the number"500" (usually Fiat).
