The Enzmann 506 - rare, innovative and still attractive

In the early 1960s, the Swiss Karl Enzmann built attractive sports cars based on the Beetle and Porsche 356 chassis, which were ahead of their competitors in some respects.

One advantage of these vehicles was their good durability, thanks to their polyester bodywork. For example, three vehicles were present in Altbüron two years ago. Another innovative feature was the almost airbag-like impact device for the front passenger and the doorless design. With the available hardtop, the car could even be made rain and winter-proof.

Hobby magazine also attested to the car's great potential in 1960 and devoted a detailed report to it.

In fact, the cars are being built again today, to order. That's a good thing!

Why not all classics increase in value

Over the last 10-12 years, some classic cars have shown a better ROI than shares, real estate or precious metals. But not all old cars are suitable as classics and not all classic vehicles increase in value. Maintaining the value alone costs a considerable amount of money, which means that for some people the calculation doesn't work out in the end.

Hardly anyone buys a classic car because they are hoping for a big increase in value. Nor should this be the aim. Nevertheless, some collectors are naturally pleased when they get back more than they invested when they sell.

But what do you have to look out for so that you are not disappointed in the end? Which classics are good investments? When should you buy?

Would the Ford GT70 have been successful?

At the beginning of the 1970s, Ford realized that it was no longer possible to compete with the Alpine A110 and its ilk in rally sport with its existing vehicles. In response, the Ford GT70 was developed.

The GT70 was a mid-engined car designed to accommodate various engines from 1.6 to 3.0 liters (4- and 6-cylinder). The design was modern and the prospects were good. However, the project was soon put on ice and apart from the prototypes, no further vehicles were built. A pity, because today these cars would certainly be on the list of many car collectors.

Great atmosphere at the GP Mutschellen

Despite constant rain, this year's GP Mutschellen in Switzerland attracted an exciting field of participants and, given the circumstances, a large number of spectators. Although short, the track was attractive. A special highlight were the microcars, which had their meeting nearby and delighted the spectators at Mutschellen with their drive-by.

What happened to the spare wheel?

At the beginning of the 20th century, every car had one or often even two spare wheels, and for good reason.

It was only towards the end of the 1970s that folding and emergency wheels began to replace the traditional full-size spare wheels. The reason was the high weight, but above all the large volume of the normal spare wheels.
