With the spread of 3D programs on computers, it has become much easier to show the internal structures and processes of a technical object. However, before even the most complex machine could be digitally dissected, this still had to be done laboriously by hand and with a clear concept. Virtuosos were needed at the saw, because every cut had to be perfect. Once it was off, it was almost impossible to put it back on. How many Ford V6s and Fiat 1500s had to be cut before the perfect models were created for the Geneva Motor Show?
