Traditionally, the classic car Grand Prix is held at the Nürburgring on the second weekend in August. This year, the 51st edition will no longer be held under the AvD flag but under that of the new title partner Belmot.
In the meantime, the pits and the driver's area have filled up with many historic racing cars. Around 500 cars and 50,000 spectators are expected again this year. A new addition is Formula Vee, which fills a large gap in the program, as the series was the driving school of many great racing drivers from the seventies. Some of the large-volume Can-Am vehicles with up to 800 hp have already been spotted.
The first free practice sessions and set-up runs took place on Thursday. As you can see (in the picture above), these are necessary to refresh track knowledge or to get the car in shape. On the Alfa Romeo 8C, the notepad on the steering wheel makes it clear what needs to be taken into account in order to enjoy a trouble-free weekend.
