Paul Berger - a life for and with Monteverdi (obituary)
Paul Berger passed away on June 29, 2024 after a serious illness. Together with his life partner Peter Monteverdi, Paul Berger built up Automobile Monteverdi AG . Elegant and fast sports cars were produced in Binningen, as well as off-road and racing cars, but in any case they were sensational and never boring. Monteverdi would not have made it without Berger, and after the death of Peter Monteverdi in 1998, he continued their life's work together.
He kept the Monteverdi treasures in the museum in Binningen until 2016, when he handed the cars over to a foundation, which ensures that the beautiful sports and racing cars can be shown in a temporary exhibition at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.
Just a few days ago, the cars from the "Peter Monteverdi Automobilbau-Stiftung" were presented in a large special exhibition at the "Old Wheels Biel/Bienne" event . Paul Berger should have been there, but his health no longer allowed him to travel to Biel/Bienne.
Now he, who was honored with the Swiss Classic Lifetime Award just a few months ago, has passed away forever. It is thanks to his foresight that the Monteverdi legacy will be safely preserved in the future.
