A slightly different arrangement of the instruments
07/20/2024
In the sixties and seventies, it became fairly standard to equip the cockpit of sporty cars with a speedometer and rev counter. These were usually the same size and positioned directly in front of the driver. On particularly sporty models, the rev counter was perhaps slightly larger and positioned in the middle, pushing the speedometer to one side.
With the Prelude , Honda found a new solution to this attention problem between revs and speed. The revs are shown on a separate concentric scale within the speed display.
However, these interlaced displays were not really easy to read, which is why there were hardly any imitators. And today, in the digital age, the old rules no longer apply anyway. The information that is most important to the driver is displayed in large letters.
But surely the Zwischengas readers still know about more unusual arrangements of instruments in old cars (just comment!) ...
