The road to the Fiat Ritmo
07/29/2024
The Fiat Ritmo ( Project X 1/38) came onto the market in the spring of 1978, and the designers and engineers in Italy did not have an easy time developing it. They had already started in 1973 and the first drafts and prototypes looked completely different from the final product.
Hardly anyone back then (as today) would have thought that the prototype pictured would later become the unorthodox Ritmo. And there were several other style studies that had just as little to do visually with the Ritmo.
The entire development history was documented in a 15-page essay .
We already published a comprehensive report on the Fiat Ritmo 75 CL a few years ago, which we have now supplemented with further archive images (including of the style studies/prototypes).
And because the early Ritmo studies reminded us how difficult it can be to name the later production model on the basis of prototypes and style studies, we have also developed a car connoisseur quiz from them .
