Flounders for the gendarmerie
The police have always needed a fast car to chase criminals and traffic offenders on the fastest roads. This is and was no different in France. And of course, the "gendarmerie" turned to a local product and so the police were able to enjoy the Alpine-Renault A110 more than 50 years ago .
When the "Berlinette" was no longer built, the gendarmes had to switch to the A310, which they could probably use in four- and six-cylinder versions.
The A610 was also used, but "la Régie", i.e. Renault with the R18 Turbo or the Renault Mégane R.S., was increasingly able to deliver fast cars.
Now, however, French police officers can once again climb into an Alpine A110, as the forces of law and order have ordered 26 of these modern mid-engined sports cars, which brings us full circle. After all, the entry-level comfort of the latest edition has probably increased significantly compared to the original version ...
