45 years in 3 seconds

As a photographer, you always need a certain amount of preparation. First you look for a special spot, then you set up and take a few test shots with cars that are just passing by. By chance, I was able to capture the Bavarian automotive history of the last 53 years in around three seconds.
First the BMW X3 from 2017, then shortly afterwards the BMW 1800 ti from 1964 (picture above) drove past me.
Cars have changed a lot in half a century. They have become higher, heavier, more powerful and more luxurious, but they have lost some of their charm.
If you recognize the 1800 ti from all sides at first glance, the X3 could almost as easily be a VW, Skoda, Dacia, Seat, Audi, Renault, Ford or even a Kia. Today's distinguishing features are limited to the radiator grille and headlights, the rest has unfortunately become a boring uniformity.
Sure, the X3 heats better and the windows fog up less or not at all, but in the end the 1800 ti is definitely more fun in the snow without all the electronic driving aids.
P.S. We have of course already published a comprehensive report on the Planai-Classic 2022 with over 180 photos ...
