The Opel enthusiast and his calendar
10/09/2020
Opel fans may know him, because Peter Furrer is completely addicted to the brand with the lightning bolt. He and his brother Ueli have been die-hard Opel fans and enthusiasts for almost 20 years. In the early days, cars were slaughtered for parts, but today it is mainly special Opels that are restored. The result is a large fleet of Opel cars from 1973 to 2001, including racing cars, classics and, of course, a tow truck called Opel Blitz (pictured above).
During the many years that Furrer spent wrenching and restoring, he also developed the desire to capture his cars in photos. So he bought an SLR camera and Peter had another hobby, which naturally went hand in hand with his Opel passion.
A first Opel calendar was then created in 2019, which Furrer worked on with two colleagues. In 2020, distance was required, not least because of Corona, and so Peter Furrer designed the second calendar for 2021 completely on his own. He was supported by a few local models and, of course, Opel collectors who were happy to make their treasures available for a photo session.
Peter only had them printed externally, of course. The print run is manageable, as is the price per unit. Peter would of course be delighted if one or two Opel fans were to hang "his" calendar with pictures of Kadett, Ascona, Omega Lotus and Co. on their walls, but what was primarily important to him was the joy of making and sharing his Opel enthusiasm.
If you would like to know more, you can view the calendar on Furrer's website .
