Analog clocks come and go in the car
Volkswagen has just announced that the revised Passat will no longer have an analog clock. This reminds us that digital clocks were all the rage in the 1970s, for example in the Fiat X 1/9in 1979.
Some time later, however, analog clocks were suddenly considered chic in cars again, and Maserati played a significant role in this, with a striking analog clock installed in the Ghibli of the nineties, for example (picture above). Many a premium manufacturer followed suit, because the analog clock was almost a tradition, as the Smith clock in the LagondaRapide of the sixties shows.
But now the times seem to be changing again. At least that's how it seems. However, the Maserati Levante still has the clock with the hands (at the moment) ...
