Ski Heil at the Geneva Motor Show!
03/07/2019
It is a little surprising when almost a handful of cars at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens its doors to the general public today, are loaded with skis.
In the case of Porsche (pictured above), it is an early 911 whose skis are mounted upside down on the roof from the aerodynamicist's point of view.
A few steps further on, you come across the refreshed Mini from David Brown Automotive, which is carrying two pairs of skis on its pretty roof rack.
However, it is not only old cars that carry skis at the show, but also new ones. For example, there is the GFG Style Kangaroo Leggera from 2019, which carries its skis on the rear like James Bond's Lotus Esprit.
And then there is the Lancia Stratos reincarnation "New Stratos" from "Manifattura Automobili Torino", which also has skis strapped to the back.
So why skis in Geneva? I asked a company representative on the Porsche stand this question. The answer: it exudes "Swissness". As a Swiss, you might be a little surprised, but cars with skis certainly look nice.
Of course, we will then write a larger review and show the once omnipresent classics from Abarth to Volkswagen in many pictures.
