Almost like back then - Porsche 917

How the pictures look alike! The first Porsche 917, freshly restored, is currently on display at Retro Classics in Stuttgart.
Exactly the same car premiered at the Geneva Motor Show 50 years ago.
However, while in 1969 a digital clock in the background represented modernity, the Porsche people at Retro Classics have (unfortunately) dispensed with this installation.
Interestingly, a Porsche 917 can also be seen at the Geneva Motor Show 2019, which is taking place at the same time, in the TAG Heuer special exhibition. This is the Gulf 917 number 026.
The 917 is and remains a very special racing car. You can hardly ever get enough of it.
Next year, by the way, it will be the other way round again, because then a Gulf-Porsche 917 will be on display at Retro Classics as part of what is sure to be a unique special Gulf racing car show to mark the 20th anniversary of Retro Classics Stuttgart.
