Strange one-offs in Italy

The nice thing about a big classic car show is that you always discover cars that you were hardly familiar with before. This year's Auto e Moto d'Epoca in Padua, which closes its doors tonight, is no exception.
For example, there is an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 from around 1950 as a pickup! Who would think of turning this magnificent car into a truck?
Or how about the Ferrari 412 from 1989, which was converted by Pavesi Ventorosso into a convertible with lines that take some getting used to? Incidentally, the car is said to have been built three times.
And a few meters further on is a Fiat Coupé/Cabriolet from the 1990s, which even Chris Bangle would probably have liked, because the convertible conversion looks successful.
The Fiat 2100 Vignale Coupé from 1960 is perhaps less appealing, but whether the necessary restoration will turn the duckling back into a swan cannot yet be predicted.
The Fiat 508 Berlinetta Speciale looks more coherent here. It was built around 1946 on the basis of a pre-war chassis, but here too some work is needed before the car can be driven again.
By contrast, the Quasar, which Peugeot presented at the 1984 Paris Motor Show and which was based on the Peugeot 205 T16, is clearly a show star.
And this list in no way does justice to the show in Padua, as our report with over 150 picturesshows .
