The most expensive Porsche has a Swiss past

Jo Siffert was not only an incredibly gifted racing driver, he was also a very good businessman.
As early as June 15, 1970, he probably had an inkling of the value of his Porsche 917, a car that he initially dismissed as completely undriveable. But the 917 became a legend and is now regarded as the racing Porsche par excellence. No wonder the car eventually became the most expensive Porsche ever. In Pebble Beach in 2017, the Gooding & Co. auction house auctioned off the 917 in the legendary Gulf livery for the equivalent of 13.58 million francs (14.08 million dollars), and we naturally reported on all the details of the auction at the time .
Unfortunately, the car had not been in Siffert's family for a long time. The car probably made its last appearance in Switzerland, adorned with mourning flags, at Jo Siffert's funeral on that sad Friday, October 29, 1971 in Fribourg.
