Mercedes-Benzalso introduced a new comfort and safety feature with the W126 model series coupé, namely the "seatbelt reminder".
In order to position the seat belt in the field of vision and within easy reach, an electrically operated arm brought it into the correct position as soon as you sat down in the car and closed the door. A practical innovation that certainly increased the seat belt wearing rate in the two-door car.
There was also a belt tensioner that tightened the belt if the car was expecting an accident. In contrast to the belt tensioner, however, the belt tensioner cost extra.
