Can station wagons fly?

If Santa wants to switch from a flying sleigh and harnessed reindeer to an automobile, then it should also have flying capabilities.
This is exactly what we wanted to test in 1992 and photographed three estate cars from Audi, Toyota and Volkswagen for a comparison test in Sport Auto - not driving, but flying.
Of course, the three models - VW Passat VR6, Audi 80 quattro 2.6E and Toyota Camry V6 GX - were also photographed in detail, but the special feature of this photo session was the adventurous flying maneuvers.
In the middle of the compulsory program, we were suddenly visited by a police patrol. The policemen wanted to know exactly what we were doing? We explained to them that we were photographing the three station wagons for a magazine.
One of the policemen wasn't really satisfied with this answer and wanted to know more. We explained that we always took pictures of all the cars on bends and pulling along, plus detailed shots of the interiors and engines.
The man in uniform explained to us very nicely that they had received a report that some idiots were jumping over a crest with cars. We laughed and replied that it would probably take cars other than these three arch-conservative station wagons. The two policemen also started to laugh and the second man in uniform said that he would also rather see a Porsche jumping than the existing Toyota in a photo.
They said a friendly goodbye and drove off, thankfully without ever noticing the tire tracks from the landings on the asphalt.
