It's all been there - advertising on the front page
12/30/2017
Have you recently opened a magazine with a large advertisement for a watch or a perfume on the front page? And thought, does it have to be that magazines are even selling their covers to advertisers?
Well, this is not a new trend; German car magazines were already using the front page in the 1950s to draw attention to products and probably earn good money in the process.
For a magazine with a large audience, this could quickly amount to thousands of DM, and in the seventies and eighties even more.
To be fair, however, you have to admit that the advertisers showed a lot of taste, at least with the covers of Auto Motor und Sport and Motor Revue, and the subjects are still attractive to look at today.
If you would like to take a pinch of it, please refer to our magazine archive, which has recently been supplemented with the issues of Auto Motor und Sport , and to our media library, in which Motor Revue , for example, is almost completely recorded. Have fun!
