With a tie in the steep face

Today, anyone sitting in a prototype to test it on the racetrack would dress up in a non-flammable racing suit and put on a helmet, even gloves and racing shoes.
Not so 50 years ago. Back then, people got behind the wheel in clothes they could have worn to a board meeting or a wedding. Even if the car was a Vauxhall XVR and the racetrack (Monza) had a banked curve.
Incidentally, this sports car from Great Britain is legendary in its own right. It was created between 1964 and 1966 as a concept car, was powered by a four-cylinder 1975 cc engine and was capable of speeds in excess of 170 km/h. It was shown to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966, and later also in Paris and London. Three prototypes were probably built, two of which were destroyed, but one survived. Thank goodness!
